Overview: Established in 1908, James Madison University competes in the Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA), a Division 1 FCS conference boasting 12 universities. JMU's athletics program boasts 6 men's sports and 11 women's sports. Women's athletics have been an integral part of the university almost since its inception, while men's athletics were brought to the university in the late 1940's. James Madison's two national championships ranks them tied for third most national titles in Virginia. James Madison's baseball team advanced to the 1983 College World Series, the only Division I institution in Virginia to do so. The JMU women's field hockey gave the university their first national title in 1994. JMU football also won the NCAA Division 1 Football Subdivision (formerly division I-AA) national title in 2004 and appeared in the playoffs in 2006, 2007 and 2008. (Wikipedia)

James Madison's strength and conditioning program is led by Director of Strength and Conditioning, Greg Werner. With a list of professional acronyms following his name, (including: MS, MSCC, NSCA-CP, CSCS, SCCC, ACSM-HFI, CSNC), Greg brings a wealth of experience to the JMU program. Together Greg and his staff, including Callye Williams and Lee Rowland ensure that JMU athletes are presented with a strength, conditioning and nutrition program that provides every opportunity for optimum performance on the field of play. As you will see from their Staff website, Greg and his staff are a few in a long line of strength and conditioning professionals to have an impact at JMU.

The JMU strength & conditioning websites is one of the most fully integrated sites I've seen to date. Take some time to review the specifics related to their program, such as: Sports Nutrition, Goal Setting, Footwork and Agility Drills, Speed Training, Weight Training, Plyometric Training, Ab/Core Training, Flexibility Training, and More.

David, I've been at JMU for 17 years and have been very fortunate in that our adminsistration, from our President down to our A.D., truly understands the benefits of strength & conditioning. We have made improvements to our program every year. In addition to the staff you listed we have Jim Durning as our Football strength & conditioning coach, and two other assistants, Justin Jones and Corey Anderson.
