The CMU Strength and Conditioning Department has three summer 2017 unpaid academic internship opportunities available for undergraduate and graduate degree seeking students. Applicants must receive academic credit from current University to be considered. These academic internship positions are designed to engage current students actively seeking a career as a strength and conditioning coach in the day-to-day operations of a Division I weight room. Students will be exposed to all aspects of an NCAA Division I strength and conditioning program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and training of ALL varsity programs that are on campus during the summer period, completing weekly requirements set out with a hands on weekly curriculum, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, and teaching techniques in a wide variety of lifts. These intern positions provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience while working in a dynamic, educational based, and collaborative environment. Ideal candidates will be certified or actively pursuing certification from NSCA and/or CSCCa. If candidate is currently in pursuit of CSCS certification, Central Michigan University is an approved online proctoring site for the exam. Interns should be prepared to work up to 40 hours/week, which may include days, nights, weekends and/or holidays. All interns will receive instruction in, and be required to comply with, NCAA and Central Michigan University rules, regulations and policies.
