The University of Detroit Mercy Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking candidates to fill 2-3 volunteer intern positions for the Fall 2017 semester. Interns will assist the Strength and Conditioning Coaches with all aspects of the strength and conditioning programs for all varsity sports. This is a hands-on, educational internship program. Interns will partake in a semester-long education program where they will learn the basics of strength and conditioning, coaching, exercise technique, and weight room maintenance. Interns will be expected to dedicate a minimum of 25 hours per week and should have a strong desire to work as a strength and conditioning professional.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a CPR/First Aid certification. Must possess or be in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Must exhibit excellent communication skills and work ethic. Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: CSCS or SCCC Certified, USAW Certified. Prior experience teaching and coaching the Olympic and basic strength exercises.
