Details: 

First and foremost, you will be a positive extension of the Griffin Elite Sports & Wellness family.  You will accurately represent our mission statement with each interaction you have with an athlete, his/ her family members, and spectators.  The individual will need to have an open mind to learning new training and physiology concepts, and learn how to properly implement these concepts into a well thought out training program.  Will assist full-time and part-time staff members with the set-up and breakdown of group training sessions in the training area.  Responsible for assisting all staff members with the daily coaching of group training sessions.  Will have the opportunity to coach classes by themselves once they have shown competence to efficiently and effectively instruct a class with a full-time staff member.  Will assist with the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties of the training area.  Will assist with the professional development of the interns and part-time staff members.

Griffin Elite- Sports & Wellness Full Time Athletic Performance Coach

Minimum Requirements: 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree, or currently upperclassmen enrolled in a 4yr university exercise physiology (or equal) program

Certs:  NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa or currently planning on taking the certification exam (test date scheduled), CPR & AED,

Experience:  6 months+ coaching experience

Time/ Schedule Requirements: 

                                Days:  Available M-Sat

Stevenson University (MD): Stevenson University in Owings Mills, MD is looking to fill 2-3 VOLUNTEER INTERN positions, no monetary compensation will be provided. Candidates can use this experience working towards class credit at their respective university or to gain further hands on training in the field of collegiate strength and conditioning. The position will require no more than 20 hours a week. The Internship is set to begin January 9 and carry on as long as the end of the Spring Semester. The accepted applicants will gain experience working at the Division III collegiate level specifically with football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and our other varsity teams. Position responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: setting up and breaking down of equipment for training sessions, running training sessions and programming for teams (if they’re certified) assisting with routine maintenance of training facilities, and participation in projects and assignments throughout the duration of the Internship. Applicants must be certified or working toward certification with the CSCCa (SCCC) or the NSCA (CSCS) and have current CPR/AED certification. The candidate must possess strong communication skills, motivational skills, and must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional at the collegiate or professional level. University of North Florida: The University of North Florida (Jacksonville, FL) Strength and Conditioning Department has spring 2017 unpaid volunteer internship opportunities. Internship positions are designed to engage those actively seeking a career in the strength and conditioning field in the day-to-day operations of a Division I weight room.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and training of ALL 17 varsity programs, completing weekly requirements, and assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties. This is an unpaid position, however, volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, receive college credit if applicable. Candidates will need to hold CPR/AED certifications with an ideal candidate be certified or actively pursuing certification from NSCA and/or CSCCa. University of North Florida can provide mentorship for the CSCCa pending further review. Buffalo State College (D-III – NY): Seeks applications for an internship in strength & conditioning. As an intern coach the successful candidate will assist the head coach with all aspects of the strength & conditioning program, and teams as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing a sound and well-rounded program that improves all facets of athleticism; provide safe instruction, supervision and motivation to assigned sports team(s); test and evaluate the student-athletes to show improvements regards to strength, conditioning and overall fitness levels; assist in repair and maintenance for all equipment used in strength and conditioning area; coordinate rehabilitation of injured athletes with staff athletic trainers; and other duties as assigned by Head Strength Coach. Strong leadership, relevant experience, and motivational skills are required; a record of integrity and the ability to inspire student-athletes to perform at a high level is essential; and a willingness to advance the goals and mission of Buffalo State while adhering to the rules, policies, and regulations established by Buffalo State and the NCAA is critical. Qualifications include: 1) Bachelor’s Degree (or working towards), 2) a nationally recognized certification (CSCS or SCCC preferred but not required), 3) and the ability to work 15+ hours per week. The Citadel is currently accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions.  The internship will last from January 5 – April 28.  Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor.  Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting.  Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications.  Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff.  Interested candidates must submit:

-          Resume (one page maximum)

-          Three professional references*

University of Maryland, College Park:
The University of Maryland is currently accepting applications to fill four (4) Spring 2017 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the UMD Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Spring 2017 program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion of Bachelor's degree by the commencement of the intern program/current pursuit of a graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. If this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. Appalachian State University (Boone, NC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach working exclusively with Olympic Sports (this is a non-football position).  This is a 12‑month full‑time appointment.  The position will assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Performance in the oversight of the Strength and Conditioning program for 20 Division I athletic programs. Applicants MUST have collegiate S&C coaching experience, be CPR/AED/first aid certified, and possess CSCS or CSCCa certification. RedLine Athletics is a sport performance facility in Pflugerville, TX (outside Austin) and is searching for qualified candidates to fill full time and part-time performance specialist positions.  Individuals need to be self-motivated with a background in Exercise Science and ability to understand the art of coaching.  Candidates need to be able to give clear and concise instructions and have an ability to take control of large groups.  Candidates also need to have the ability to properly instruct and develop collegiate/professional level athletes, as well as, have a desire to develop today's youth.  

Job Description:

Both Performance Specialists will play a significant role in evaluations and the development and implementation of individualized strength and conditioning programs.  Positions are also responsible for maintenance of the facility and all equipment on a daily basis.  

Job Details:

Full Time is 35+ hours per week, Part-Time approx. 20-25 hours per week.  Working inside and outside (local teams and high schools) our facility.

Education Required*

Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or in related field

Education Preferred:

Master's Degree in Exercise Science or related field

Experience Required*

1 year as a strength and conditioning coach

Experience Preferred:

Experience as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach (Intern, GA or Asst. Coach)

License/Certification Preferred:

Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (CSCS), USAW Level 1 Certificate, Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) OR be willing and able to take the next available certification exam

Skills Required*

-Must maintain a positive attitude and working relationship amongst the strength and conditioning staff

-Must conduct oneself professionally at all times

-Must have a desire to coach youth athletes

-Must work within the guidelines set forth by RedLine Athletics

-Must be able to communicate well in all facets of our program

-Must be able to give tours of the facility and explain our complete program

-Must be able to follow-through with all responsibilities

-Must be able to perform all lifting exercises

-Must be able to demonstrate proper technique in teaching Olympic lifts, speed & conditioning drills, and testing or any other aspect as it pertains to the program

-Must work with head coaches to ensure the workout plan meets the needs of each athlete and their sport

-Must keep the facility and weight room clean at all times
