The Rice University Football Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for VOLUNTEER coaches for the Winter/Spring of 2020. The internship is scheduled to begin Sunday, January 12, and will run through Friday, April 24. This is an unpaid position; however, this opportunity offers a valuable professional recommendation for advancement in the field of strength & conditioning.  Responsibilities include, but not are not limited to: assisting with the daily implementation of training for the Rice Football team, set-up and breakdown of daily strength & conditioning training sessions, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility, data collection, as well as participation in an internship curriculum.  Interns will also have the opportunity to assist in the design and implementation of various Olympic Sports training programs. Prerequisites include CPR/AED Certification, as well as completion of, or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Rice University requires selected candidates to partake in a background check prior to participation in the internship.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department (non-Football & non-basketball) is currently accepting applications for our Spring 2020 volunteer internship.  This is a voluntary position and will receive no monetary compensation. Accepted applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience coaching Division I (Big Ten) student-athletes, as well as, participate in a practical and classroom-based education program.  Interns will be eligible to apply internship hours towards undergraduate/graduate internship requirements.  Upon successful completion of one semester, interns will have the opportunity to receive a recommendation for future positions.  

Minimum qualifications include: current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; currently pursuing (or holding) a degree in an exercise science related field; a great work ethic and strong desire to become an industry professional.  

Preferred qualifications include: currently pursing (or holding) a certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, CSCCa, USAW, ACSM, etc); previous internship/coaching experience; experience as a collegiate athlete; Microsoft Office proficiency; and the ability to commit to at least 20 hours per week.  

Responsibilities include: assisting with team training sessions; daily, weekly, and semester-long professional development assignments; remaining updated on current developments in strength training and conditioning; and facility maintenance.

Wright State University is seeking two (2) volunteer Strength and Conditioning interns for the spring of 2020. This is an UNPAID position. Accepted applicants will receive practical hands-on experience in strength and conditioning at the Division 1 level, as well as class credit (if applicable), and the opportunity to participate in the intern education curriculum.

Required qualifications: First Aid/CPR/AED training, the desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, a strong work ethic, the ability to commit to AT LEAST 20 hours per week, and effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications: CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification, or in the process of obtaining any or all of the aforementioned certifications, and previous coaching experience.

Responsibilities: Assist full time coaches in implementing programs, set up and break down of training sessions, weight room maintenance and upkeep, intern curriculum assignments and projects, and any other tasks or projects assigned by staff as they arise.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE): SIUE Athletic Performance (located outside St. Louis) is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for an Athletic Performance internship opportunity for the Spring 2020 semester, start date is January 13th-May.  This is an unpaid position; however, you will receive Division 1 experience with highly competitive programs that compete in the MAC and OVC.  For more details click the link. The University of Minnesota Athletic Performance Department is seeking highly motivated applicants to fill SPRING 2020 (January 13th – May) internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Athletic Performance setting. Qualified candidates will work directly with the following sports: basketball, volleyball, wrestling, baseball, softball, soccer, swimming & diving, track & field, gymnastics, tennis, and rowing. This internship can be used for course credits. Daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Download/analyze Heart Rate and GPS data from training sessions

Analyze daily HRV/wellness scores/surveys

Conduct and analyze Force Plate/Watt Bike data 

Professional development, including various educational assignments during the internship

Assisting with supervision and execution of Athletic Performance programs

Assisting with daily operations and facility/equipment maintenance

Responsibilities will be assigned as they are earned. Interested applicants must exhibit effective communication skills, positive energy, attention to detail, sense of urgency and strong work ethic. Louisiana State University is currently accepting applications for 5 Spring 2020 Volunteer Internship positions.  Qualified candidates would work with the Football Strength and Conditioning Department as well as other Olympic sports. This is an unpaid position that is responsible for assisting the LSU Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Off-Season program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Participation in Collegiate Athletics is preferred. Other preferred qualifications include certification from an accredited organization, previous coaching experience, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements.  There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. Delaware State: Department of Strength & Conditioning is accepting applications for 2 Paid Intern positions.  Responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision and training of DSU’s 18 Division1 intercollegiate athletic programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the paid-internship.  Qualifications include: Strong work ethic; Punctuality; Enthusiasm; Desire to further one’s career in the field of Strength & Conditioning.  Preferred qualifications include: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field; NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC, or USAW certifications; CPR certification and coaching experience.  Individuals chosen for position are subject to university background checks and standard hiring procedures. Inside Edge is a Sports Performance facility located in Ashburn, Virginia. We specialize in strength and conditioning for middle school, high school, college and pro athletes. We are looking for a part time strength and conditioning coach to work primarily with our youth hockey teams. The position will report directly to other Director of Strength of conditioning. Night and weekend availability required.

 

Required qualifications- Certification or degree in exercise science related field, strong communication skills, ability to motivate athletes and produce results.

 

Preferred qualifications- CSCS, SCCC, NASM, USAW.

 

Compensation- Varies based on experience.

Job Summary: The University of Texas at San Antonio Athletics Department is accepting applications for a rewarding educational internship opportunity for the Fall of 2019 (~ Aug. 15th to Dec. 10th).  Interns will receive hands on experience with elite collegiate Olympic Sport (non-football) athletes.

Qualifications: 

Looking for someone that possesses a strong work-ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, positive attitude, and a strong interest in the strength and conditioning profession.

Responsibilities:

Interns will be responsible for assisting in the daily maintenance and administrative duties, and helping to implement and properly execute exercise programs with the strength coaches of assigned teams.
