Internships are available for Spring Semester 2010 in Strength and Conditioning. Saint Francis University is an NCAA Div. I member of the Northeast Conference (FCS Football). We are looking for highly motivated college seniors needing internship credits or recent graduates needing practical experience. Candidates must be pursuing a career in Strength and Conditioning and will be involved in all aspects of the program gaining hands-on experience. This is an un-paid position. School: Bethune Cookman University

The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with preferred emphasis in the exercise sciences, and knowledge of Olympic and Power lifts, Speed training would be a plus. The candidate must also have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach.

Preferred experience includes coaching strength and conditioning for intercollegiate athletes, playing intercollegiate athletics. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is recommended.

Position: Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Description: OutPerform Sports operates 4 Velocity Sports Performance centers. The centers in Redondo Beach and Irvine, in Southern California, are looking for a Senior Performance Coach who is highly driven and enjoys a challenge. A strength coach who has experience working in a demanding environment and knows how to be a professional.

We provide a great opportunity to grow as a performance coach. Our facility serves a diverse group of athletes ranging from NFL veterans and 1st round draft picks to and Olympic medalists and National Team members, through high school and younger developing youth athletes. We also work with elite and organizations.

The position offers coaches a chance to work and train side by side with other coaches and athletes who are passionate about performance. A qualified and motivated coach will be involved in extensive continuing education and staff development, while expanding their coaching skills. You will be part of a team with experience coaching international Olympic weightlifters, nationally ranked power lifters, experienced speed coaches, PhD level sports nutritionists and sports psychologists, and sports medicine experts including ATCs, PTs, and soft tissue therapists. There are also opportunities to learn in Metabolic testing, energy system development, video analysis, nutrition, and sport psychology.

This will be a demanding position with responsibilities coaching and designing program for elite athletes, leading staff and intern development, and increasing management responsibilities. We work hard to help our athletes succeed.
Requirements: You need talent and experience coaching movement & strength techniques as well as passion for the sports performance field and helping athletes of all ages and levels. Coaches should have a thorough knowledge of coaching strength and Olympic movements and knowledge of speed and agility techniques is very beneficial. Experience working with elite athletes or college athletes is needed and experience and qualifications in a sports medicine setting are a plus. Management experience with a strength & conditioning staff, as well as a history of teaching younger coaches is important for a Senior Coach and a Masters degree is preferred. CSCS, SCCC and USAW preferred.

University of Pittsburgh Football Internships

The physical preparation staff at the University of Pittsburgh is looking for volunteer interns for the 2009 season.

Duties Include:
• Supervising athletes during weight room and field based training
• Transportation, set up, breakdown of training equipment
• Cleaning areas of weight room and training equipment

Candidates must have:
• Experience in instructing weight training and field training drills
• an interest in becoming a coach/trainer of athletes
• a strong work ethic

What will place you at an advantage:
• Being able to lead Division 1 American football players by example in the weight room and field based training

• Internships are unpaid positions. Interns are responsible for arranging housing and transportation

Southern Methodist University is in need of ASSISTANT STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH to assist in leading the athletics department in implementing a successful strength and conditioning program for the student athletes.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: the overall success, performance and management for the strength and conditioning program; supervising, planning, and coordinating the strength & conditioning program and maintenance of equipment; developing and implementing the strength and conditioning programs fro Olympic Sports – Speed, Strength, and Conditioning schedules, fundamental instruction, and team workouts; working with head coaches to plan, organize, and facilitate the programs strength & conditioning needs on a daily basis; and assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning with other programs and team work outs.

Requirements to be considered include a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years coaching experience, preferably collegiate level. Candidates must demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Must also possess strong organizational and leadership skills. A working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is essential. Knowledge of strategic planning is desirable.
