The University of Memphis:  The Football Strength and Conditioning department is searching for hard-working candidates for a Fall Internship opportunity working with football.  Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting Football Strength and Conditioning Staff in all facets of implementation of weight training programs, aid in the instruction of safe and proper weight training techniques, and assist in the regular maintenance and upkeep of the facility.  This is an unpaid position (IF THIS IS NOT AN ECONOMICALLY VIABLE OPTION FOR YOU THEN PLEASE DO NOT APPLY) in which the potential candidate(s) may receive class credit if applicable and will gain valuable collegiate level work experience and exposure through various training modalities centered around vertical integration, Bod Pod assessment, Polar Team2 Heart Rate System usage, orthopedic assessment, and sport massage.  Individuals pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in exercise science, athletic training or a related field as well as working towards a certification with the NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa and possess CPR/AED First Aid Certification send a resume and three (3) references to Brian Hill at dbhill@memphis.edu.  Applications must be submitted before August 10, 2011 as the start date for the position is ASAP.  AA/EOE

The Strength and Conditioning department at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado is accepting applications for strength and conditioning interns and/or volunteer assistants. There are positions available for both this fall and spring semesters. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of Colorado Mesa’s 24 Division II intercollegiate athletic programs, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, and completion of various educational assignments during the internship.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong work ethic, be very reliable, highly motivated, and have a strong desire to become a professional in the field.

Compensation: There is no monetary compensation provided at this time.  However, the position offers valuable experience at the Division II level, college credit if applicable, and the potential to earn future recommendations.

University of Maine is now accepting applications for the Fall 2011 Strength & Conditioning Internship.  Responsibilities will begin on or about August 29, 2011 and run through December 16, 2011.  Responsibilities will include 1.) Assist with implementation of sport specific strength & conditioning programs.  2.) Office duties.  3.) Maintenance of equipment and training facilities.  4.) Other duties as assigned by strength & conditioning staff.  5.) Must adhere to the rules of the University of Maine Athletics Department, NCAA, and the CAA, American East and Hockey East Conferences.  Required qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and strong desire to become a College Strength & Conditioning Coach.  Preferred qualifications: proficient in Microsoft word and excel, currently pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s) Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. Wofford is accepting applications for (1) Strength and Conditioning Intern and/or Volunteer Assistant for Fall and Spring semesters (10 month position). Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of Wofford's 18 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; completion of various educational assignments during the internship are required. Qualifications include: strong work ethic; punctuality; enthusiasm; desire to further one’s career in the field of Strength & Conditioning. Eastern Illinois University is accepting applications for a qualified, highly motivated Graduate Assistant in Strength and Conditioning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in design and implementation of Strength & Conditioning programs for assigned sports. Provide proper instruction for safe and effective lifting techniques and equipment usage. Supervise weight room day-to-day activities and conduct periodic performance & strength testing.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in sports sciences, CPR certification and certified or working to be certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association(NSCA) or Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCC). In order to be awarded the position the candidate must be admitted to graduate school at Eastern Illinois University.

Compensation includes tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Previous strength coaching experience preferred. Previous athletic experience preferred. Experience with the Olympic lifts preferred. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access strongly recommended. Consideration will be given to individuals who possess strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills with integrity. The position starts at the end of August. Clarifying the open Georgetown University Sports Performance Position 

 

The posted job is a paid, 10 hour/week, part-time coaching position.  Primary responsibilities include assisting with all Mens Lacrosse strength & conditioning activities, while also serving as the head strength & conditioning coach for a designated GU varsity sport.

 

The position reports directly to the Head Coach for Strength & Conditioning, and will assist the Strength & Conditioning staff with weight-room maintenance, instruction, and monitoring of activity during evenings. Bachelor's degree required. Current CSCS or CSCC and CPR/First Aid certification required. A minimum of one year in strength and conditioning development, preferably at the Division I level, is recommended.

The University of Rhode Island is currently seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position of Strength and Conditioning intern for the Fall 2011 semester. Essential job functions for the position include, but are not limited to: assisting the Director of Strength and Conditioning and assistant strength and conditioning coaches in developing and implementing strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs for the University’s intercollegiate athletic teams; assessing student-athletes' physical attributes to improve athletic performance; maintaining weight room and equipment; daily contact with sports medicine staff regarding athletic injuries and rehabilitation procedures; input of testing data; provide discipline and motivation to student-athletes to excel and improve; performing miscellaneous related duties when necessary.

Applicants pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a related field is preferred. Applicants certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) preferred but not required. Current CPR certification is a requirement. This is an unpaid position.

Radford University- The Strength and Conditioning department at Radford University is accepting applications for strength and conditioning interns and/or volunteer assistants. Arizona State University Sports Performance Internship

 

 

Job Description:

The goal of our program is to provide an encompassing view of collegiate strength and conditioning, including programming, exercise technique, facility upkeep and exposure to a diverse array of 21 sports in a high paced environment. As an intern in the ASU Sports Performance program you will have the opportunity to gain real world in the trenches coaching experience; you will also learn under the bar while training in the program. Aside from the daily duties required of the position there will be assigned readings and projects to further the development of your knowledge base. This internship is designed for you to develop the needed experience and skills to make you a stronger candidate in taking the next step in your coaching career – this typically being a graduate assistant coaching position. This internship is intended for those whose #1 goal is to become a Sports Performance Coach at the collegiate level.

 

Qualifications:

In pursuit of or recent completion of a Bachelors or Masters degree in an exercise science related field.  Experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting. A strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Certification or working towards certification with the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, and/or USAW.

 

Compensation:

This is an unpaid position with no housing or meal assistance. 

Internship credit hours may be obtained.
