Central Connecticut State University:  Central Connecticut State University is seeking applicants for the position of Sports Performance Intern for the Spring 2017 semester. Responsibilities: Successful candidates will assist in organizing and implementing movement assessments, dynamic warm-ups, speed and agility training, exercise technique progressions, strength training, and performance testing for all student athletes. Interns will also be responsible for weekly assignments and readings, collecting and interpreting testing data, the daily maintenance of equipment and facilities, and the development of instructional videos. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required or working towards the completion of; First Aid and CPR certified, CSCS certified or working towards CSCS or other certification, and Division 1 coaching experience. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Compensation: Successful candidates will receive valuable hands-on experience coaching college athletics. Course credit is also available if offered by applicant’s host institution. This is an unpaid internship. No monetary compensation, housing, or meals available at this time. Strength and Conditioning -Volunteer Internship – Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA)

 

Old Dominion University Sports Performance Department is seeking qualified strength and conditioning interns for spring 2017 semester.  The internship will begin January 9th, 2017 and will continue through April 2017. Preferred qualifications: Working towards earning Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field and towards NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW certifications; Up to date CPR, First aid, and AED certification.  One year of experience in strength and conditioning program, previous coaching experience, or current/previous collegiate athlete.

 

As stated above this is an unpaid position but those accepted for the internship will receive practical strength and conditioning experience, coaching education, hours towards undergraduate/graduate internship requirements, and understanding of the fast paced environment of Division I athletics.

Nicholls State University (Thibodaux, LA) is seeking driven applicants with a passion for strength and conditioning for the position of Intern/Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2017 Spring Semester (January 17th – May 3rd). The position is unpaid, however applicants will gain experience working with a Division I Strength and Conditioning program for Football and all Olympic Sports offered at Nicholls State University. Successful applicants may also receive academic credits if applicable. Responsibilities will be assigned based on experience by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Candidates will assist with team lifts, perform daily facility maintenance and upkeep, and complete internship/professional development assignments. Candidates must have a current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification and be attempting to complete or have completed a degree in exercise science or exercise science related fields. A Bachelor’s degree in exercise science and CSCS or SCCC certifications are preferred but not required. Details: 

First and foremost, you will be a positive extension of the Griffin Elite Sports & Wellness family.  You will accurately represent our mission statement with each interaction you have with an athlete, his/ her family members, and spectators.  The individual will need to have an open mind to learning new training and physiology concepts, and learn how to properly implement these concepts into a well thought out training program.  Will assist full-time and part-time staff members with the set-up and breakdown of group training sessions in the training area.  Responsible for assisting all staff members with the daily coaching of group training sessions.  Will have the opportunity to coach classes by themselves once they have shown competence to efficiently and effectively instruct a class with a full-time staff member.  Will assist with the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties of the training area.  Will assist with the professional development of the interns and part-time staff members.

Stevenson University (MD): Stevenson University in Owings Mills, MD is looking to fill 2-3 VOLUNTEER INTERN positions, no monetary compensation will be provided. Candidates can use this experience working towards class credit at their respective university or to gain further hands on training in the field of collegiate strength and conditioning. The position will require no more than 20 hours a week. The Internship is set to begin January 9 and carry on as long as the end of the Spring Semester. The accepted applicants will gain experience working at the Division III collegiate level specifically with football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and our other varsity teams. Position responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: setting up and breaking down of equipment for training sessions, running training sessions and programming for teams (if they’re certified) assisting with routine maintenance of training facilities, and participation in projects and assignments throughout the duration of the Internship. Applicants must be certified or working toward certification with the CSCCa (SCCC) or the NSCA (CSCS) and have current CPR/AED certification. The candidate must possess strong communication skills, motivational skills, and must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional at the collegiate or professional level. University of North Florida: The University of North Florida (Jacksonville, FL) Strength and Conditioning Department has spring 2017 unpaid volunteer internship opportunities. Internship positions are designed to engage those actively seeking a career in the strength and conditioning field in the day-to-day operations of a Division I weight room.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and training of ALL 17 varsity programs, completing weekly requirements, and assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties. This is an unpaid position, however, volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, receive college credit if applicable. Candidates will need to hold CPR/AED certifications with an ideal candidate be certified or actively pursuing certification from NSCA and/or CSCCa. University of North Florida can provide mentorship for the CSCCa pending further review. Buffalo State College (D-III – NY): Seeks applications for an internship in strength & conditioning. As an intern coach the successful candidate will assist the head coach with all aspects of the strength & conditioning program, and teams as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing a sound and well-rounded program that improves all facets of athleticism; provide safe instruction, supervision and motivation to assigned sports team(s); test and evaluate the student-athletes to show improvements regards to strength, conditioning and overall fitness levels; assist in repair and maintenance for all equipment used in strength and conditioning area; coordinate rehabilitation of injured athletes with staff athletic trainers; and other duties as assigned by Head Strength Coach. Strong leadership, relevant experience, and motivational skills are required; a record of integrity and the ability to inspire student-athletes to perform at a high level is essential; and a willingness to advance the goals and mission of Buffalo State while adhering to the rules, policies, and regulations established by Buffalo State and the NCAA is critical. Qualifications include: 1) Bachelor’s Degree (or working towards), 2) a nationally recognized certification (CSCS or SCCC preferred but not required), 3) and the ability to work 15+ hours per week. The Citadel is currently accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions.  The internship will last from January 5 – April 28.  Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor.  Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting.  Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications.  Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff.  Interested candidates must submit:

University of Maryland, College Park:
The University of Maryland is currently accepting applications to fill four (4) Spring 2017 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the UMD Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Spring 2017 program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion of Bachelor's degree by the commencement of the intern program/current pursuit of a graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements.
