Morningside College (NAIA- IA): Morningside College Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applicants for a PAID internship position working with all programs for the 2017-2018 academic year.  This position will start in the Fall August 2017 and complete at the end of the school year in May 2018.  Internship responsibilities will differ and include various duties with in the Morningside College Strength and Conditioning department.  Hours vary during each semester and will include early mornings, late afternoons, and some weekend hours throughout the academic year.  Interns will gain valuable, hands on experience in areas such as program design, speed and agility techniques, conditioning, facility and athlete supervision. 

Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an Exercise Science related field required.  CSCS, SCCC, and/or USAW are preferred.  Updated CPR/AED/First Aid required.  Must have a strong passion to pursue a career in the strength and conditioning profession.  Previous weight room or athletic coaching experience preferred. 

Compensation: $5,000 stipend for the whole academic year 2017-2018 broken up into monthly pay starting in September 2017.  Completion of this internship can fulfill potential credit hours toward a program degree and future recommendation in the field of strength and conditioning.

OLYMPIC STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING INTERNSHIP FALL 2017:

The Strength and Conditioning department at the University of Notre Dame is currently accepting applications for internship positions for the Fall 2017 semester. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all 25 Olympic Sport Teams at the University of Notre Dame.

Qualifications:

  1. Candidates MUST be enrolled in an institution of higher education AND be receiving class credit.
  2. Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA and/or USAW.
  3. Candidates must possess one year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletic experience.
  4. Candidates must have outstanding work ethic and attention to detail.
  5. Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional.

Compensation:
There is no monetary compensation provided. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree. Interns will receive hands on experience with Olympic Sport teams.

Florida Hospital Center Ice is seeking TWO qualified interns for the 2017 summer semester (May 29th-August). Florida Hospital Center Ice is a 150,500 square foot ice sports facility located in Wesley Chapel, FL (Tampa Bay area) housing 5 sheets of ice, a weight room, yoga studio and turf track. The performance center works with national and international level figure skaters, minor, junior, college, Olympic and professional level hockey players, as well as football and baseball athletes. There is no monetary compensation for the position but it is an excellent opportunity to network within the hockey community. You will be provided the opportunity to earn a letter of recommendation, and there’s also an ability to move into an opening within our staff upon completion of the internship.

 

Qualifications:

Desire to pursue a career in the sports performance field

Must be enrolled in or have completed at least a bachelors degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related degree.

Working toward becoming CSCS certified through the NSCA

Strong work ethic and understanding of the hours demanded from coaches within this field

 

Responsibilities

Set up and break down of training sessions

Assist in the implementation of programs for athletes

Facility maintenance

University of California, Santa Barbara Summer Internship 

The University of California, Santa Barbara Sports Performance department is seeking volunteer interns for the Fall 2016. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all the sports at UCSB.

When:

-June 26th 2017 - September 15th 2017 (adjustments to start/finish date can be accommodated)

Responsibilities:
-Assist in the design and implementation of a sports performance program
-Assist in all areas related to the maintenance of sports performance facility
-Completion of UCSB Sports Performance curriculum including: discussions, readings, written assignments, practical demonstrations and projects

Qualifications:

-Desire to pursue a career in Sports Performance
-Practical knowledge and experience in strength training
-Practical knowledge and experience with energy systems training  
-Currently pursuing or already holding a degree in Exercise Science or related field
-Currently holding or planning to pursue SCCC, CSCS or USAW certification

 

Compensation:
This is an unpaid position. Motivated interns will gain a greater understanding of collegiate sports performance as well as improve their qualifications for future employment.

Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) - Strength and Conditioning -Volunteer Internship

 

Old Dominion University Sports Performance Department is seeking qualified strength and conditioning interns for Fall semester 2017 working with Olympic Sports teams.  The internship will begin August 21st, 2017 and will continue through December 2017. Preferred qualifications: Working towards earning Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field and towards NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW certifications; Up to date CPR, First aid, and AED certification.  One year of experience in strength and conditioning program, previous coaching experience, or current/previous collegiate athlete.

 

As stated above this is an unpaid position but those accepted for the internship will receive practical strength and conditioning experience, coaching education, hours towards undergraduate/graduate internship requirements, and understanding of the fast paced environment of Division I athletics.

The Gardner-Webb University Athletic Performance Department is accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant (GA). Gardner-Webb University is a private, Christian, Baptist-related university in Boiling Springs, NC home to 22 NCAA Division I Athletics Programs. This position provides tuition remission for up to 18 graduate hours per year as well as a grant for $5500 spread throughout the year, for a full-year contract (fall, spring, and summer terms). You must be accepted into the Gardner-Webb Graduate School prior to employment. The position is subject to a university background check.

 

Intended start date is August 2017. Successful applicants should have the ability to excel within a collaborative team environment; strong work ethic; effective communication skills; & desire to further one’s career in the field of Athletic Performance/Strength & Conditioning while having a strong commitment to Christian higher education.

 

Responsibilities: Assisting in all aspects of the Gardner-Webb Athletic Performance program, design and implementation of sport specific training programs for 3-4 assigned sports teams; ability to effectively teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills; supervision of team workouts; assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Athletic Performance Facility & compliance with all appropriate university, Big South Conference, and NCAA Rules/Regulations.

Central Connecticut State University is seeking applicants for the position of Sports Performance Intern for the Summer 2017 semester. Responsibilities: Successful candidates will assist in organizing and implementing movement assessments, dynamic warm-ups, speed and agility training, exercise technique progressions, strength training, and performance testing for all student athletes. Interns will also be responsible for weekly assignments and readings, collecting and interpreting testing data, the daily maintenance of equipment and facilities, and the development of instructional videos. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required or working towards the completion of; First Aid and CPR certified, CSCS certified or working towards CSCS or other certification, and Division 1 coaching experience. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Compensation: Successful candidates will receive valuable hands-on experience coaching college athletics. University of Texas at San Antonio is currently accepting applications for Summer 2017 volunteer internship positions.  Qualified candidates would work with the Football Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an unpaid position that is responsible for assisting the UTSA Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Football Summer program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Other preferred qualifications include certification from an accredited organization, previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. Official start date would be May 30 and continue through the end of July.
