Requirements for Consideration:

  • Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biomechanics, or Exercise Physiology

Job Responsibilities:
Provides training programs to the Velocity Sports Performance clients: from youth, student athletes, adults, elite/professionals, and teams.  Duties also include involvement in the community, customer service, daily operations, and quality assurance.
Most Important Monthly Contribution:
Deliver world-class performance training and service to clients.
 
Coach VSP Protocol:
  • Train youth, student athletes, adults, elite/professionals, and team in VSP program methodology
  • Educate clients on athletic performance training
  • Continually further knowledge of VSP methodology
  • Properly assess each athlete against VSP model
  • Utilize effective cues and techniques to improve athlete performance
Community Involvement
  • Attend local sporting events
  • Build relationships with schools and athletic organizations

Qualifications:

Description:  

The purpose of the Velocity Sports Performance coaching internship program is to educate participants in all aspects of sports performance coaching. The desired outcome is to place high performing interns as Performance Coaches within the Velocity system upon graduation.  

Job Summary:

Interns will assist the Sports Performance Director and Performance Coaches in implementing a comprehensive athletic performance enhancement program.  That comprehensive program includes Velocity's Performance Coach training and curriculum dedicated to building proficiency in cutting edge athletic training techniques.  Interns will be required to participate in groups, observe coaches, and assist in coaching as part of their training.  All participants will have an opportunity for positions within the Velocity Sports Performance network.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in training sessions
  • Observe and shadow Performance Coaches during training session of various ages, skill levels, and protocols
  • Attend coaches meetings
  • Assists Performance staff with maintaining the facility
  • Supports Performance Coaches with updating athletes files
  • Completes all assigned readings, lectures, labs, and assignments in a timely and concise manner
  • Adheres to Velocity Sports Performance's dress code and behavior requirements

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING GRADUATE ASSISTANT

Description: Assist Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with supervision of 17 Division 1 teams.  Applicant will be responsible for design, implementation and supervision of 2-4 teams as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. 

 

Qualifications: Must have experience teaching Olympic lifts and other strength exercises.  Must possess a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science or fitness related field.  Prefer applicant to be Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or currently in the process of becoming certified.  Meeting graduate school entrance requirements and being accepted into the school. Personal qualities desired are very professional, dependable, good people skills and judgment, with exceptional communication and organizational skills

 

Compensation: $ 9,000 stipend, tuition waiver for 6 hours of graduate study (fall and spring) as well as 3 hours during the summer.

Athletic Edge Sports in Bradenton Florida is now accepting applications for full time and part time Strength and Conditioning Specialists.

Successful candidates will assist with the implementation of warm-up, strength training, conditioning, speed/agility, flexibility and nutritional program for athletes of all sports at the amateur and professional level including MLB Prep, MLS Soccer and NFL Combine Prep programs.

Dynamic Athlete Performance is looking for highly motivated, qualified applicants for the position of Performance Coach Intern for 2012. Positions will be filled for the winter, spring, summer, and fall semesters. Interns will receive exposure and hands-on training with youth, professional and Olympic athletes. Our state-of-the-art training facility is a fully equipped 12,000 square foot center with an athletic turf field, 50 yard sprint track, and Olympic style weightlifting equipment.

Qualifications

University of Rhode Island: The University of Rhode Island Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting internship applications for the Spring of 2012, there are 3 positions available. The internship will begin January 11th and will continue through the end of the semester. This is a full-time unpaid internship; responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the supervision and training of all URI Football players, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, program design, nutritional education, re-hab supervision, and a full comprehensive educational syllabus. Lipscomb University Strength and Conditioning Internship

Spring Semester Start Date: Wednesday January 4, 2012

Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN is seeking qualified applicants for the position of intern with the Department of Strength and Conditioning. Lipscomb University is an NCAA Division I institution with 15 sports teams. Applicants should be highly motivated with a strong desire to work in a fast paced and competitive training environment and have a genuine interest in strength and conditioning. The ideal candidate must possess strong knowledge of human physiology and anatomy, be capable in a wide variety of exercises including Olympic lifting techniques and free weight exercises.

Duties: Regular duties include overall athletic development and strength & conditioning of the 15 sports teams, assisting the director and assistant director in implementing year-round training programs for the student-athletes on each team based on the physiological needs of that sport, and establishing a positive rapport with the student-athletes, coaching staff and administrators. Interns will be included in team programming, strength and speed testing, corrective exercise strategies, and team dynamic warm-up and mobilization.

This 15 week internship will require a 15-20 hour per week commitment.

Interns will acquire invaluable experience in a successful NCAA Division 1 Strength and Conditioning program with hands-on training in areas such as:

            -Sport specific training

            -Speed, strength and fitness testing

            -Functional Movement Screen

            -Olympic lifting

            -Program design and implementation

            -Management and scheduling

-Communication with coaches and athletes

South Dakota State University is currently accepting applications for a qualified and highly motivated individual looking to further develop their skills, as they relate to strength and conditioning, through an unpaid summer internship.

Expectations of the intern include the following:

  • Strong communication, leadership, integrity, self-confidence and a willingness to learn
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, positivity and a desire to improve one’s self for the possibility of future endeavors in the field
  • Willingness to work a minimum of 20 hours/week

Preferences of the candidate include the following:

Arizona State University Sports Performance Internship

 

 

Job Description:

The goal of our program is to provide an encompassing view of collegiate strength and conditioning, including programming, exercise technique, facility upkeep and exposure to a diverse array of 21 sports in a high paced environment. As an intern in the ASU Sports Performance program you will have the opportunity to gain real world in the trenches coaching experience; you will also learn under the bar while training in the program. Aside from the daily duties required of the position there will be assigned readings and projects to further the development of your knowledge base. This internship is designed for you to develop the needed experience and skills to make you a stronger candidate in taking the next step in your coaching career – this typically being a graduate assistant coaching position. This internship is intended for those whose #1 goal is to become a Sports Performance Coach at the collegiate level.

 

Qualifications:

In pursuit of or recent completion of a Bachelors degree in an exercise science related field.  Experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting. If not already certified you will be expected to begin your certification process towards your CSCS, CSCCa, and/or USAW during your internship.

 

Compensation:

This is an unpaid position with no housing or meal assistance.  

Internship credit hours may be obtained.
