NSU Athletics competes at the Division II level in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). It offers 15 sports and has produced numerous players of the year, All-Americans, and National Championships.

Overview: The NSU Department of Athletics competes in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as members of the Sunshine State Conference. Nova Southeastern University offers 15 intercollegiate athletic programs with nine women's and six men's teams. Women's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis, track and volleyball, while men can participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and track.
NSU Athletics has produced numerous SSC Players of the Year, NCAA All-Region selections and NCAA All-Americans, and have been nationally ranked in numerous sports since joining the NCAA beginning with the 2002-03 school-year. The Sunshine State Conference has been dubbed the Division II "Conference of National Champions", as member institutions have won 68 national championships since the SSC was founded in 1975.
NSU also holds the Miami Dolphins training facility and hosts ACC Orange Bowl teams. The facilities which can be seen here
Shelton Stevens, NSU's Director of Strength & Conditioning brings a wealth of experience to the Nova Southeastern University strength and conditioning staff. Prior to NSU, he worked at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge working closely with the 2009 NCAA Division I College World Series Champion baseball team and the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl Champions. Before LSU, Stevens spent a brief stint at the 2007 NCAA Division IAA SoCon Champions Wofford College under well known Wes Herlocker a former North Carolina Assistant Strength Coach & Safety at East Carolina University, three years at Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida State University, where he worked with world-class sprinters and FSU's three-time track and field national champions.
Stevens is a member of the National Strength Conditioning Association (NSCA), Certified Strength Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and is a certified weightlifting coach by the United States of America Weightlifting Association (USAW). He has also been mentored by some of the greats in strength and conditioning working alongside Master's Strength Coach Jon Jost at Florida State and Director of Strength and Conditioning Tommy Moffitt and LSU.
