Comment by John Weatherly on November 21, 2011 at 11:14am Dr. Phil Wagner shared info from Cheri Mah at the Stanford Sleep Lab a few posts ago (post was on learning) on his blog (www.spartascience.com) that according to the data obtained on sleep at Stanford most athletes need a little more than 9 hours a night. If this is true, then most athletes should be sleeping more. Don't forget rest and recovery. Also, Dr. Wagner uses sophisticated force plate data to guide the training process. I realize few have force plates to use but everybody can try to improve rest and recovery.
Comment by Drew Henley on November 21, 2011 at 6:20pm Be sure to check out the below post on sleep/recovery, athletes (especially students & young professionals) forget they need a good night's rest more than a late night out. Also, great resources this week. Articles & Videos You Should See 11-21 at Henley Sports Performance - http://goo.gl/1J7zb Let me know any thoughts or comments you have.
