Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for VOLUNTEER internship opportunities for the FALL 2018 SEMESTER. We are seeking candidates who are looking to gain experience working within a Division 1 football Strength and Conditioning program. This an EXCELLENT opportunity to gain actual practical COACHING experience. The unique military setting allows for flexibility in the intern work schedule, many options are available to discuss.
Assist in the supervision and direction of the Strength and Conditioning program for the football team, set-up and breakdown of equipment, pursue continuing education opportunities, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates should be pursuing, or possess, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science, or related field of study. Must possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to be open to new ideas and a strong desire to enter the Strength and Conditioning field. Current certification, or working towards certification with the NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa. CSCCa mentorship program is available to those pursuing the SCCC certification. Preferred candidates will have a current certification, experience in a team training setting, be able to lead groups large and small and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of student athletes.
Compensation: This is an UNPAID voluntary position. This position does not provide any stipend, benefits, or housing. Candidates will be able to gain experience working in a Division I football program and earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Class credit from current institution is available if applicable.
