Current Job Description
John Henderson came to Weber State University in 2008 as strength and conditioning coach and assistant athletic trainer. After spending the 2011-12 year as the Head Athletic Trainer at California State University, Monterey Bay, he returned to Weber State to serve as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Athletic Trainer. Henderson oversees all aspects of strength and conditioning for all intercollegiate athletic teams, working directly with men's basketball and football.
Henderson received a Bachelor of Science degree in clinical athletic training from Weber State University in 2007, and a Master of Science degree in Sports Conditioning and Performance from Southern Utah University in 2010. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and a Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.
Henderson served as Program Development Coordinator for Mountain Land Physical Therapy and as the Director of Athletic Training at BASICS Sports Medicine, one of Utah’s top sports performance and rehabilitation centers. He created sports medicine outreach programs for local high schools, club, and professional sports teams, serving as Head Athletic Trainer for .
While studying at Weber State University, Henderson served as intern strength and conditioning coach and athletic training student. He continues to support the strength and conditioning internship program, providing curriculum and opportunities for students to gain practical experience and prepare for the NCSA-CSCS exam. Henderson is a clinical instructor for the athletic training education program and teaches beginning and advanced rehabilitation.
Henderson has been active in the community as a guest speaker at sports camps, hospital sports medicine lectures, wellness conferences, and awards banquets. Henderson is currently serving as a member of the Utah state Athletic Trainers' Licensing Board.
