Thoughts on coaches training

What are your thoughts on this article? Mark Right from Georgia got hurt doing p90x. With all the great resources that Division 1 schools have, I am sure that they can find 20-30 mins to workout. These schools have strength coaches that could easily help coaches be in shape. I think it goes a long ways when coaches take the time to be in great shape themselves as oppose to losing themselves and gaining weight after their playing days. …

Db clean vs power clean

I had a coach tell me once that he would rather have an athlete who can do single leg db cleans vs someone who can do a 300 lbs power clean. What are your thoughts?

This profession

Good post/discussion. Sad but true. I think this profession won't really advance much farther than where it is. Only those who are lucky to have references will make it. What's the deal with some coaches treating interns badly? These guys give their time in order to get their careers started and some coaches decide they can do whatever they want with them. This profession is messed up sometimes when there are qualified coaches out there but the people making the decision on hiring someone only consider candidates with a good reference or someone they know.

Some of the best things you could do as a coach is add variation to your programs. Our program has become better by adding things most programs dont use. Making lifts multi-planar by incorporating not just a sagital plane overhead press we use our hips to help with the press and also use a press out to our side to help with the frontal plane.
