Wayyyyy too much lumbar extension involved for my tastes. It's an"abdominal" workout?
I've not used them. Certainly, the movements look functional as far as rotation and dynamic balance. However, I would be concerned about the amount of torque on the lumbar spine and knees, at least from visual inspection. I did a fast check on the web, didn't come across any research that investigated muscle activation vs. moving in multiple planes and trying to balance. However, this does not mean that the research doesn't exist. I'd be curious to examine. Ultimately, on a needs hierarchy and limited time for training, how much core stabilization from a standing position is needed more so than pattern running, jumping and agility work? Personally, I don't know the full answer, but these would be my first choices from a dynamic perspective.
