Jon Jost Trades in His Whistle for a Shovel - A message from Jon Jost, former Director of S&C at FSU

Hello Coaches, Friends and Colleagues,

Most of you have probably heard that I resigned from my position at Florida State University, and that my wife and I have moved to Costa Rica where we will live on our coffee farm.  I have attached an announcement and some pictures telling a little about our story.  It was very difficult to leave a career of 27 years in college athletics, and the FSU Athletic department that has been my home for the past 14 years and has treated me so well.  I have been incredibly blessed throughout my career to be mentored by, and have worked with some truly remarkable people.  There are far too many to name individually, but I would like to thank each one of you, whom with I have had the pleasure of working and serving student-athletes.  You have made me a better strength coach and enriched me as an individual.

I will miss not being part of an athletic department, especially this Saturday!  I will be thinking of you and wish you all good luck as you embark on a new season and academic year.  I will be following the seasons, your success and cheering for the Huskers and Noles from Costa Rica.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is something I can help with, or if you visit the beautiful country of Costa Rica.  Please keep in touch, you will always be able to reach me at

God Bless,

Jon Jost

Simply no one better in the profession.  Came into the profession for the right reasons and maintained a sense of integrity not found often in the industry today.  He's a winner, a mentor, friend and a brother.  Go get 'em.
