Use Partial Training To Prepare Your Athletes For Full Range

Dear Strength Coach,

Research studies shows that the tempo of a repetition has a great effect both neural and metabolic responses to the training. Thus, optimal tempo prescription is a great opportunity to control and target the training effect.

I am a big believer in systematic, gradual progressions that the develop the athletes as fast as they can handle, but with minimal risk of injury.

Click on the link to see a video with a progression of  4 full range of motion tempos (none of them are slow) leading to the "ultimate tempo" for multijoint exercises, when the goal is maximal strength
