It is good that Charles Barkley is working out....Hope he sticks with it.  But, why cant you just let him do dead lifts or something less technical than an Olympic clean, or maybe just let him drill with bar only until he can at least hold it in the rack position.  I think there are some good crossfit affiliates but through the commercialization of it as a whole it continues to degrade.  It seems like a lot of them are just concerned with mindless energy expenditure than actually teaching someone how to lift properly.  Everyone cannot do Olympic lifting (contrary to what some might believe), just like everyone cannot Pole vault, or do a series of full back flips, tumbles and make a perfect two point landing.  Maybe that's why they put stuff like that in the OLYMPICS.

Watched it again and still surprised that at no point did anyone look to offer up any advice to "Sir Charles".....

Any cross-fit members/followers on SPN?

I'm speechless, not just about Charles but the whole "Crossfit" gimmick!

How about teaching him how to do cleans and making sure that he doesn't have any other movement issues before you try to kill him.  This is why I don't like crossfit, it sounds great in theory but it is usually bad in practice.

Ok so Sir Charles's tech was "safe" by why didn't anyone swap it for DB Cleans or something? I've read a fair bit about Crossfit and there seems to be a big split between those who follow it and those who feel Crossfit ignores "safe techniques".....any thoughts guys?

Agreed Paul, his cleans (and toes-to-bar) form is terrible, but I commend him for getting in there and giving it a shot.  Hopefully he'll stick with it and see the improvement that will inevitably come.
