Try them with a heavy resistance band attached to a lifting cage and then looped around their chest...should give some additional support in the eccentric phase and some help on the recovery phase. Also a good method for improving the athlete's ability to maintain full hip extension throughout the movement. Hope it helps!

I had some of my volleyball girls do this and they didnt understand it, but really felt it the next day. I found it tough to do with 2 of my players who were a bit overweight. They were ok going down, but on the way up, they had very little reactive strength which forced their hips to stick out...which is a no no. Any suggestions for using this exercise with an overweight athlete, or should I X it out completely

My athletes hate this exercise! They don't realize how much it helps them in the long run!

A very good exercise, well done. Going the other way is also great for quads, arms crossed on chest.
