During the off-season, the "sand dunes" have always been a home away from home. The importance of a lower body strength and a surface which is joint friendly is critical for a long off-season of grinding out grueling workouts. Without appropriate flexibility and strength, athletes cannot progress forward and there is an increased potential for injury. So while training early in the beginning stages of conditioning, the surface you train on may save you years to come.
