Our normal practice is to get some plank work in after our injury prevention warm ups, however, we wanted to make it more reactive to promote cell excitability, and stimulate the fast twitch muscle fibers for an all out sprint. With this new plank to sprint variation we are reinforcing that the athlete has to be in a neutral position, keep a straight body, contracting the abdominals , glutes and balance. With holding the plank in this position the athlete's were on my count, which caused a little uncertainty going into the various phases of the sprint. This can also be used with other apparatus, which is apart of our program.
