Providence College Summer Turf Workout

On Friday mornings during the summer, Coach White and his staff move the Friars outside to have a full department workout.

Rather than continuing to work with their teammates like most of the week the student-athletes workout with athletes from other teams.

In this video you will hear from Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Ken White, Head Trainer, John Rock, and several student athletes about the importance of the strength and conditioning program and the Friday morning workouts.

What an awesome idea to bring everyone together! As you indicated in the video, most of the kids never see one another compete in their respective sports and this is a great way to bring all of the athletes together. I'd love to see more of what they do and the different concepts that they incorporate.

I love the idea. We do it with volleyball, women's hoops, and soccer at the end of the spring semester and we always have fun with that. I agree that when the numbers are managable it's all very positive.

At my school-I have low numbers for the summer and I group the olympic athletes together during workouts and it has been very positive. I love the environment that it creates-watching athletes from different teams pushing each other. Great work coach!!

I'm not talking about their scenario just so you guys know. They brought up Florida and I'm telling you, after being here 8 years, this is not practical for our situation. We have 250 athletes here Summer B.

Its very practical but get rid of the usesless ladders and I can see your program working.

We did a similar set-up at Army with training all the Olympic sport athletes in the summer. I love the video. I really like the use of equipment, the camaraderie, the athletes were motivated and excited. Very practical and give the athletes something to look forward to.

Why would we have our athletes do the same thing? It's a great idea but we have all of our fall teams here along with alot of other athletes. We would have about 250 athletes on the same field at the same time. Not practical in our setting. I love the video.

Great idea! The bigger BCS programs would probably not subscribe to it....(I can't see Urban Meyer at Florida doing this) ......but for non -tradional football powers.....absolutely a great idea. A wonderful idea. Great job Coach!!
