The belts we have our skinny up front and thick in the back.  The support needs to be in the front so your Abs are able to press against the belt and better stabilize the spine.  The belts we have are a bad design.  If you use a powerlifting belt it is the same height all the way around the way it should be.  Try it,  It works really well.  The only trouble is you need your training partner to help you put it on and take it off.  You will like how much tighter your can keep your trunk.  You will be able to handle more weight as well.  Try it and please let me know what you think.   Nate
