      Coach Bull,

I wanted to know if there were any websites or directories for being employed by a high school as a strength and conditioning coach? I think it would be a great opportunity, but you never hear about any openings.

I really wanted to come to your Clinic this coming week. Matt and Coach Hatch are friends of mine and Matt has trained at my house on several occasions when he was in Houston.

I will be in Chicago at the National Junior Championships this next weekend so I will miss it. My friend Garret Taylor from Alvin will be there and maybe he could some of the Literature from the seminar we your speakers are handing any out.

All the best to you Coach, Tim Swords

Did you get in contact with Hammer strength about having a clinic at your school?

You guys have a fantastic facility Coach Bull. I am sure it is much more impressive in real life..
I had a good time in Latvia and met with my friend the Latvian Olympic team coach and the two time super heavy Olympic medalist there in Dobele.

Anyway I would love to visit your place and I would like to talk with you about joining TEAM HOUSTON and starting to promote the sport here in Houston.. I have kids from 6 high schools here in the area. I would really like to make the sport grow and help the Olympic movement.

All the best to you Coach, Tim Swords

Sounds like you have a great plan for building a club. There is no doubt that anyone coming from Gayle Hatch is going to be a fantastic asset.

Power Lifting seems to dominate High School strength and conditioning programs all over the country. It is certainly true up here in Oregon. I'm sure some of the problem has to do with a lack of exposure (much of Olympic Weightlifting's problems stem from a lack of exposure), and a lack of training on how to properly/safely teach young people how to do the movements.

BTW, I started an Olympic Weightlifting coaches group here on the SPN site:
      http://strengthperformance.com/group/olympicweightliftingcoaches
      Olympic Weightlifting Coaches
A group for Olympic Weightlifting Coaches to discuss the joys, the trials, and the tribulations of starting and running a competitive Olympic Weightl…

Hey Coach Bull, My names Nick Horton, and I'm an Olympic Weightlifting coach up here in Portland, OR. I see that you're working on getting a weightlifting club going on in your area. I think this is fantastic. We need more of us!

It's a tough go at first, I can tell you. But, keep at it. It's very rewarding, and the sport needs as many people involved as possible.

      doug,
I saw your post talking about fulltime strength coaches at the high school level..is there any website to find these or do you have any leads on how to find one..I really want to go back and work with kids before its too late and then they are a step behind the competition..thanks!

      DOUG

THANKS FOR THE MAIL ABOUT THE VISIT. I WOULD LIKE VISIT AFTER I GET BACK FROM LATVIA AND ESTONIA.

I HEAR YOU HAVE A GOOD PROGRAM THERE AT DEAR PARK. I WOULD LIKE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU AND TALK TO YOU ABOUT GETTING THE AREA HIGH SCHOOLS INVOLVED IN THE SPORT OF WEIGHTLIFTING.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET SCHOOLS IN OUR AREA TO START GETTING INVOLVED IN COMPETITIVE LIFTING. IT IS HARD TO DO THIS IF THE STRENGTH COACHES DON'T UNDERSTAND THE TRUE BENEFITS AND REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW TO TEACH THE LIFTS. I HAVE HEARD THAT YOU ARE DOING GOOD THINGS THERE AND I WOULD LIKE TO START SOMETHING HERE IN HOUSTON TO PROMOTE THE SPORT.

ALL THE BEST TO YOU, TIM SWORDS
