      Gary,

Yeah, big move... I am out in Maine at Husson University primarily starting a brand new track and field program. I am also the strength coach. Everything is starting from scratch. I have my work cut out for me. I offically start tomorrow.

      How are you doing?

    • Chris Wood December 16, 2010 at 11:38am

      Gary-

You got it! DIII is not going to allow me any upward movement. One of the worst choices in my career was to leave Temple University for the private sector. I was working directly with mens and womens basketball there, and they were winning. I have been trying to get back to a situation like that since I left.

DIII is a very different animal. We have 33 weeks on discretionary time... way too much. The athletes can only be held accountable for their 19 weeks in season.

I know I will have to take a pay cut to move up, but sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards.

      Always a pleasure Gary.

I have been at PLU for four years now. I put in for the jobs at Wyoming, West Virginia, and South Alabama. I haven't heard anything. I was hoping to hear something before track and field started, as I don't want to leave the athletes scrambling for at coach a week into the season. I'll try again in the summer. How do you like Riverside? Is the cost of living tough down there?

      Coach Heron-

How is the job search going? It is tough right now. I have a couple of resumes out. Haven't heard anything.

      Hope you are doing well.

I already passed the CSCS back in may. Looking into getting certified for USA Weightlifting.

Hey Gary. Congrats on the UC Riverside job! That's awesome. I'm still working at Velocity. Just part time at two locations. Limited hours, I might have to look for another part time job. How are things at Riverside so far?

      Gary-

Nice to "friend" you! How are things down in California? I think I applied for the Head job there a few years ago.
