"I like the idea behind this but I do have to ask if the athlete is doing any work before the higher volume work? Or do they just begin with the high volume work and then move to the singles? I am just trying to follow if you would have athletes…"

Will i saw your post on speed training. I would NOT recommend parisi. I ran track at a high level an trust me I never saw any speed tools, parachutes, ladders, any of that crap. My advice is talk to someone who ACTUALLY ran track. There's alot of self proclaimed SPEED GURU'S, BASEMENT TRAINED SPEED & AGILITY folks so be careful.
in terms of preparation & the exam, its probably not as intense as the CSCS - although i did it as continuing education because i already have my personal training certification through NASM. i recommend them so highly because A) anywhere you look, NASM and the NSCA are the two highest certifications you can have & people place a lot of value on them and B) i just feel like i have a great handle on program design variables both for general populations, special populations & athletes. it would probably be worth your while to look into it because they place a lot of emphasis on dynamic functional training, stabilization & posture - things that are overlooked and need special emphasis. i've had a lot of success with it in the short time i've had it, so hopefully you find the same :)
Sup Will, well I got the internship with the Mariners through the NSCA website. It was kind of Divine destiny I guess. I applied on a sunday and got a call on monday. I just kept throwing my resume out. Parisi is a really good company to work for. I went to work for them during the offseason. I didn't enjoy working with kids that's why I came back to work with the Mariners for 2nd season. Performance enhancement with kids is a" gold mine" if you have a passion for em. As for me , I'm 25 , with no kids and I'm contemplating a vasectomy lol.
Will,
Great to hear from ya! I actually just saw that study yesterday. I am working on a comment editorial on that study that I hope to post in a few days on my site. I will let you know when I do!
Regarding your equipment, what kind of budget do you have to work with?
