      Coach Dos-

Chris Wood here. You asked me a couple of questions about indoor sled work on the basketball court (about a year ago). Just wondering if you had tried any of the things I set up (carpet on the bottom) and how it has or has not worked for you.

      Talk to you soon,

Hey coach I didnt even know your school existed until a partner of mine told me he heard you speak at S@C seminar. I read some of your stuff and visited your website. I was really impressed with your work.

The guy in the video is feeling it today... to say the least. We did 4x10 on that movement yesterday.

      Thanks for the remarks.

      Dear Robertdos

I am not a big forum person but I thought your commments on the NSCA were interesting so I thought I would write to you personally. I am a high school strength coach. I get paid as a teacher but I only teach weight lifting classes. I design all the programs for the other teachers. I also get paid as a coach to have the weight room open before and after school. I work with all the teams (i.e. testing, after practice lifting, off season weights).

In my opinion, Boyd is trying to do for the high schools what he did for the colleges. He set up the Fly Solo program so HS pe teachers could learn how to run a weight room and teach lifting correctly. He has the Performance Index competitions to get coaches to test their athletes in a stand manner.

One problem with the conferences is getting coaches to speak. I go to sport specific because it is for the hs / college strength coaches. The national convention has a hard time getting strength coaches to speak so they give the speaking spots to those who apply which is mainly the researchers. I like the research aspect almost as much as I like the pure strength coach. I think it helps me be a better strength coach.

For me, my only option for information is the NSCA. I tried to join the college strength coaches association. I did not want to be certified, only a member. Afterall, where do colleges get their athletes? From hs coaches. I even talked to Mr. Stiggins. He was polite but said the college coaches did not want to have anything to do with the hs coaches. If college coaches worked more with the hs coaches think of how much better the young athletes coming into college would be.

I am the NSCA HS SIG Chairman and I think that it is important for the hs and college coaches to work together. Dennis Kline has worked with me and we are trying to get some projects where the hs and college coaches work together.

Now that I am done rambling (that is why I do not do a lot of forums, I talk to long). My point was, if hs and college strength coaches would work together more, we would have one of the largest groups in the strength / fitness field. We would be the ones who had the say and could set the tone for developing athletes.

Hey No Problem. I've been real busy myself, I've barely had time to write workouts
